At the heart of I Solisti di Miami is a profound connection to Italy, embodied by our three founders—violinist Bettina Mussumeli, violist Jodi Levitz, and cellist Cecilia Di Cecco. Each brings a wealth of experience rooted in Italian musical traditions, enhancing the ensemble’s authentic interpretation of Italian Baroque music and beyond.
Bettina Mussumeli has spent years performing across Italy and Europe, earning acclaim for her masterful interpretations of Baroque and Classical repertoire. As a former professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, currently at the Frost School of Music University of Miami, and a member of leading Italian ensembles, she brings both virtuosic skill and an in-depth understanding of the stylistic nuances that define Italian music.
Jodi Levitz began her professional musical journey as "Prima Viola Solista" in Italy's most prestigious chamber orchestra, where she became deeply immersed in the country’s rich musical culture. As a highly accomplished soloist, chamber musician, and professor, she has performed across Italy and Europe with leading orchestras and ensembles. During her time in Italy, Jodi collaborated with renowned composers, premiered new works, and cultivated a deep understanding of both Baroque and contemporary Italian music.
After returning to the United States, Jodi’s career flourished as a professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and now at the Frost School of Music, where she continues to mentor a new generation of musicians. Her dual experiences performing and teaching in both Italy and the U.S. allow her to bring a unique perspective to I Solisti di Miami, blending the artistry and traditions of Italian music with a modern, international outlook.
Cecilia Di Cecco an accomplished Italian cellist, adds a distinct voice to the ensemble with her deep understanding of Italian musical traditions. Her performances across Europe and collaboration with prestigious orchestras have solidified her reputation as a leading interpreter of both Baroque and contemporary Italian music.
Together, the founders’ collective experience and connection to Italy ensure that every performance by I Solisti di Miami radiates with authenticity, elegance, and a true appreciation for the heritage of Italian Baroque music.
